The EOP Student Body Represents

  • First- Generation Students: Students whose parents did not graduate from a four-year college or university in the US.

  • Historically Low-Income and/or of a Low Socioeconomic Background: this is determined by family income and/or student income

  • Students who have experienced educational disadvantages including: attending an under-resourced high school with limited opportunities and/or attending a community college with low transfer rates.

  • Students who participated in pre-university Educational Preparation Programs (e.g. Early Academic Outreach, Upward Bond, MESA, Talent Search, Puente, etc.)

The following student groups are automatically considered and granted EOP status:

  • Undocumented students not eligible for federal funding;

  • Foster youth/former foster youth;

  • Current military member/veteran of military service

EOP status is granted during the UC application process, however if EOP status was not granted students can apply to have their status reconsidered by submitting an EOP Appeal.

If you feel you qualify to be a part of EOP, you may appeal by accessing the EOP Appeal Request Form, and fully complete each question. Make sure to attach a copy of your Student Aid Report (SAR) from FAFSA or California Dream Act.

All incoming FROSH, Transfer students, and continuing students may submit an EOP appeal at any point during each quarter.

All appeals will be reviewed during the first and last two weeks of every quarter. You can expect to receive your result within a week from the review period. All reviews are conducted by EOP staff.

If you have questions or would like to check on the status of your appeal please email
