The California Dream Act

The California Dream Act allows undocumented AB 540 students to apply for and receive institutional scholarships, state-administered financial aid, and university grants. To check if you are AB540 eligible, click here.

The California Dream Act is composed of two bills:

  1. AB 130: Allows eligible AB 540 students to apply for & receive scholarships at California public colleges and universities derived from non-state funds.
  2. AB 131: Allows eligible AB 540 student to apply for and receive financial aid at California public colleges and universities partially derived from state funds.

You will need to fill a California Dream Act application every year that you want to receive aid. The application opens January 1st and closes March 2nd of every calendar year. For more information about the CA Dream Act, please see the California Student Aid Commission website, at:


The Undocumented Student Services highly encourages all undocumented students to actively apply to scholarships throughout their attendance at UCSC. Please review the information below on scholarships that you may qualify for.

The Dream.US

The Dream US Scholarship Program awards scholarships to DREAMers who have DACA or TPS status and who have demonstrated significant unmet financial need and the determination to succeed in college and in life. This scholarship is only available to high school seniors and transfer students who will be attending UCSC.
