Wellness Program FAQs

  1. Do I have to be in EOP in order to receive Wellness Funding?

Yes, you MUST be in EOP and meet the criteria listed on the Qualifications to Apply in order to receive funding from the Wellness Program. If you are not in EOP and would like financial assistance to participate in any recreation activities, please apply to the Recreation Program fee-waivers.
  2. If I apply to receive funding for three programs, will I be awarded for all of them?

No, applying to more than one program does not guarantee receiving funding for all activities. Each student who applies for funding will be awarded based on financial need and application material.
  3. What do I do if my application decision is rejected?

If your application came back as a denial, that means you may have not met the qualifications for receiving funding. If you would like to appeal your application decision, please email us at eopwelln@ucsc.edu
  4. Does the Wellness Program provide refunds or reimbursements?

No, the Wellness Program will not reimburse an individual if a purchase is made before receiving an award. It is important to wait for an Award Letter via email that provides funding through a “promotion code”. This will waive the cost of the activity that funding was applied for.
  5. Does the Wellness Program pay for gear and/or equipment needed for activities? (e.g. tents, raincoats, sleeping bags, ect..)

Yes, the Wellness Program will cover all equipment and gear needed for recreation activities. Once you know what gear you will need, please email eopwelln@ucsc.edu. We will then put you on a list with gear you request and you will be able to pick up the gear from the Rec Rental Office.
Apply Here for equipment rental requests.
  6. If I get awarded for an activity and it gets full can I apply for another activity?

Yes, you may apply for another activity if the activity you wanted to participate in gets full. Please email eopwelln@ucsc.edu in order to change your activity. We will need to update your activity request and notify the Recreation office so they can re-enroll you into the new requested activity.
  7. I haven’t heard back about my application, who do I contact?

If you have not heard back about your application to receive funding and it has been more than 7 days, please email us. Please note, applications will take 5-7 days to be reviewed. This time frame can be more or less depending on the amount of applications received.
  8. What do I do if I receive funding for an activity and I can no longer participate?

If you receive funding for an Athletics & Recreation activity and can no longer participate, please email recreation@ucsc.edu and eopwellness@ucsc.edu 7 days in advance or immediately. This will allow enough time to cancel so that another student can take your spot in a given activity.
  9. If I have an issue or complaint about a trip/activity I participated in, who do I contact?

If you have any questions, comments, feedback or concerns you would like to share about a trip or activity you participated in, please notify the Wellness Program at eopwelln@ucsc.edu. Please include your name, SID, and event information.
  10. If I have a suggestion for an activity or program I would like to see from the Wellness Program, how can I share that information?
