As a Student Success Intern, you are able to work in all forms of retention. We help prevent a Student from failing to receive their degree, help a Student finish their degree , and help a Student transition back smoothly to UCSC so that they can finish their degree. It is meaningful work where you can support Students who may identify as a person first in their family to pursue a degree.

After high school, I did not know where my life would lead me, but college was not my first option because I did not think that it was affordable. I am glad for the opportunities that I have been granted as a First Generation student and I think that is what tends to hold others back from pursuing their own education. I want to be one of the people who reaches to students in need and lets them know that they are not alone and that help, if needed, is available if they only just ask.

I love working with EOP because the staff there provides personal, academic, and financial support. As a first college student and woman of color there were many obstacles throughout my first year of college but EOP was always there to support me. Helping students has always been a passion for me and I am thankful to be in the position to continue to do what I love.

I chose to work at EOP because I believe in what they stand for. As a first generation student I can understand the hardships and confusion upon first arriving and I want to be able to help and connect students like myself, to resources that they can benefit from.

I joined EOP because I want to give back to students who are going through similar situations that I have been in. I know what it feels like to feel helpless and I want other students to know that they are not alone and that there are people and resources out there who are willing to help them succeed at the university.
