I love working with EOP because the staff there provides personal, academic, and financial support. As a first college student and woman of color there were many obstacles throughout my first year of college but EOP was always there to support me. Helping students has always been a passion for me and I am thankful to be in the position to continue to do what I love.

EOP's mission to increase the retention rate of students here at UCSC, majorly students from marginalized communities, is something that I value and cherish. As a woman of color I have faced obstacles throughout my educational journey, and have been blessed to have a support system to guide me along the way. Going to a university is exciting, but can be very stressful, leaving some students to navigate college on their own. I want to be a resource for students that they can rely on and trust to support them on their academic journey.

EOP has been there for me since I began my academic journey here at UCSC. I wanted to give back and help  my peers as I personally understand the struggle. Being an AB540 and first generation university student comes with it's challenges but with the right mindset, guidance, and a lot of hard work that degree is definitely obtainable. I want to encourage students of color to pursue a degree in STEM as we need to strive to break the set statistics.
