In Senior year, consult again with your Major Adviser to ensure you are following
the correct path for your major. You don't want any surprises in your Senior year. Also, consult
with your college preceptor or EOP counselor to make sure you will have sufficient units to graduate.
Meet with your faculty adviser to devise a schedule of weekly or bi-monthly meetings and/or a
schedule to hand in drafts of your on-going senior thesis/project. If you are taking a senior comprehensive
exam, ensure that you have consulted and scheduled meetings verifying all you must do to take the exam.
REMEMBER to announce your
candidacy by the deadline of the quarter you are expecting to graduate (see the academic Calendar for these dates).
Again, if you to attend a graduate or professional school, take advantage of all the resources
available that can assist you in preparing for graduate school process. For example, apply for the
FMP (Faculty Mentor Program)- which allows you to conduct research with a faculty member in preparation for
graduate school, come to EOP to consult the different books on graduate programs, get advice from the GIP
(Graduate Information Program) peers advisers, attend the EOP Graduate Information workshops, get materials on
assistance for applying to graduate or professional school, find out about graduate exams and assistance with
these exams, i.e., Kaplan courses, or about programs for financial assistance in applying.
You may also consult with a career adviser if you plan on pursuing a working career upon
graduation.
Always consult with your EOP counselor regarding any questions you may have, academic or personal,
during your academic career at UCSC.
